Fletcher Boats

The most famous name in British sportsboats, Fletcher produces world class, classic performance boats including the ArrowFlash, Arrow Hawk, Dell Quay Dory Fish and the Dell Quay Dory Sportsman. The increasing popularity of wakeboarding prompted Fletcher to introduce its Wakesport range. Developing their existing inboard range Fletcher now offer an alternative to the ‘tower bolted to boat’ option.

Best of British – Nowadays, Fletcher is one of the few mass production boat companies in the UK. Self-acclaimed ’boutique boat builders’, Fletcher offers the highest standard of service.

Almost everything produced at the Fletcher factory is built in-house or sourced locally. So spares are at their fingertips, and repairs can be carried out onsite. In fact, customers can visit the Fletcher factory and watch their boat being built.

A time to remember … In the late 1950s, although England was rebuilding itself from the devastation of the war, the swinging 60s were about to revive the country. Over the following 10 years Fletcher Boats proved to be a force in the market and became the largest producer of boats outside the United States.

Norman Fletcher was fanatical about producing the highest quality boat at the best possible price. Investing in technology, research and design, Fletcher appeared at every boat show with a new model.

After a buyout by Hornby in 1988 and the recession of the 90s, the company needed to streamline costs. One way of keeping the companies head above water was for SBS Trailers to exclusively supply trailers to Fletcher. Design and branding would stay the same – and so began the start of a long alliance between the two companies.

SBS was looking to relocate premises, so when Fletcher got into more financial difficulty, SBS approached them with a buyout deal and managed to secure the deal – another new chapter. Both business now occupy a factory of 70,000 square feet. Although the days of mass production are long forgotten, Fletcher has re-established the existing range and focuses on quality, and a more tailored service.

The range – The most famous name in British sportsboats, Fletcher produces world class, classic performance boats including the ArrowFlash, Arrow Hawk, Dell Quay Dory Fish and the Dell Quay Dory Sportsman.

The increasing popularity of wakeboarding prompted Fletcher to introduce its Wakesport range. Developing their existing inboard range Fletcher now offer an alternative to the ‘tower bolted to boat’ option.

Why buy Fletcher? Reassurance – simple! Fletchers offer the best Deep V hull designs money can buy – hulls which inspire absolute confidence, hulls which are soft with dependable handling, hulls that go onto the plane fast and ride high.

Since the foundation of the original company, Fletcher Boats have developed a reputation for quality, innovation and technological excellence.

Tips To Improve Your Golf Chip Shot

This article goes into the chip shot and offers some pointers as to how to improve your chipping. With a chip shot, your goal is to get the golf ball onto the green and have it run on, you do not want it to land and stop. If you can get the ball rolling like a putt so much the better. You would play a chip shot when close to the green and use a variety of clubs depending on the situation, from a 5 iron to a sand wedge.

First get it clear in your head where on the green you would like the ball to land – preferably somewhere on the green. The reason for this doe not take much working out. Because the green boasts the smoothest grass on the course, predicting the bounce is much easier than in, say, the rough. If you work on getting the chip about two feet onto the green with room to run on towards the hole, that will be a good starting point.

Club selection for chipping is governed by how far the ball needs to run from the landing point to the hole. For shorter distances you need to reduce the distance the ball travels once it has landed. For this you should use a club with more loft. If the distance is quite large, for example fifty feet or so then a shallower-lofted club is what you should go for. Another factor that comes into the club selection equation is the lie of the ball. If the ball is in long grass you need a lofted club to get the ball up and out of the grass. This takes quite a bit of practice owing to the many variables at work. The best way to improve is with experience. If you practice with lots of different clubs in different situations you will start to get a “feel” about what club is the right choice for the situation.

A good way to hit a chip shot is to treat it like a putt shot. That is you use the same grip and swing as you do with a putter. Stand with your feet fairly close together and move the left book back a touch. Most of your weight should be on your left foot. Downwards movement of the club face, and lots of it, is essential when chipping. Using your putting stance and grip will ensure this movement is imparted. As you play the stroke, as in putting, try to keep your left wrist solid as any movement will cause serious deviation in the direction of the shot. To get a good idea as to how fast the greens are playing you should hit a few practice chip shots on the putting green.

Hopefully this has been a useful introduction to the chip shot and you have learned something new to try on you next round of golf.

How to play beer pong

Beer pong is American’s most popular drinking game.  This article is meant to introduce someone who has never played before so you can start playing this really entertaining and competitive game.

To play beer pong you need 20 oz plastic cups, ping pong balls, a table to play on, beer to drink and friends to play with.  All inexpensive and easy to find.  Now that you have the materials together you have to set up.  Set up the cups in a triangle formation on both sides of the table.  Each side is for each team playing.  If you are playing 1 on 1 then play with 6 cups on each side, if you are playing 2 on 2 then play 10 cups on each side.  Now you need 1 more cup on each side filled with water which is used to clean the balls off before you shoot.

Now you pour the beer in the cups.  Usually if you are playing 6 cup you use 1 beer and if you are playing 10 cup you use 2 beers.  Many places use water in the back 4 cups and a beer in the front 6.  You can do whatever you want – always remember to drink at your own pace.  Now you take the ping pong balls and try to shoot them into your opponents cups.  Each time a cup is sunk, it is taken off the table and drank by the defending team.  First team to sink all of their opponents cups wins.

Now you know how to play America’s favorite drinking game!  Always remember to drink responsibly!

Cranchi

All Cranchi projects begin in the Research Study Centre – the heart of the company with more than 30 technicians, designers, engineers and modellists working towards perfection. This team work within 4 departments: the Research Study Centre, the Style Centre, the Prototypes Department and the Laboratory. The mission of all four departments is the same: the combination of high performance levels with design, ergonomics, form and function.

How it all began – In 1866, Giovanni Cranchi opened his first workshop on the shores of Lake Como, Italy. In 1932, the founder’s grandson, also named Giovanni, purchased a shipyard in Brienno. The 1960s saw the Brienno boat yard producing a series of wooden models and a number of sailing vessels. With the introduction of new materials, such as fibreglass, Aldo Cranchi transformed traditional boat production into a more modern industry.

Thanks to craftsmen like Aldo, the concept of design began to evolve. In 1970, a century after the Brienno boat yard was opened, Aldo Cranchi decided to expand his empire and moved to nearby Valtellina ? a larger area in which to base his developments. From that time, the management structure at Cranchi remains unchanged.

1972 saw the launch of the Pilotina. In just under 6 years, more than 1,550 of this model were produced. It was just a year later that the company decided to tackle the world of sailing boats with the Scout. Over the next 5 years, more than 500 were produced.

Building dreams – All Cranchi projects begin in the Research Study Centre – the heart of the company with more than 30 technicians, designers, engineers and modellists working towards perfection. This team work within 4 departments: the Research Study Centre, the Style Centre, the Prototypes Department and the Laboratory. The mission of all four departments is the same: the combination of high performance levels with design, ergonomics, form and function.

Anticipating new tastes and fashions is the main aims of the Cranchi Research Study Centre. 10 ultra-modern design stations, the latest hardware and software and the most advanced techniques are what help drive the new Cranchi trends.

Moving forward – Cranchi, with origins stretching back to 1866, does not rest on its traditional values. Instead it develops new and innovative construction techniques, reaching the highest standards.

Now led by its 5th generation, Cranchi has been able to evolve and grow to become the organisation that it is, counting solely on its own key strengths. At Cranchi, there are two strict family rules; reinvest the profits to create a future, but at the same time work with unchanged passion.

For around 40 years, Cranchi have been developing ideas to increase quality. This includes the strict selection of the raw materials, the innovative technologies used and constant investment.

This impressive ethos allows for an average of one boat to be built every 2 hours and 44 minutes. This statistic encapsulates the Cranchi philosophy: productivity is the result of investment.
